Potenza RF Post Care

what to expect

_______

possible temporary post treatment responses:
It is possible that you may experience some or all of the following temporary responses as a result of this treatment, which are not a reaction but a response to awakening the cells and inducing a controlled wound healing response:

  • Tightness, dryness, rough texture and mild swelling of the skin. Some of these temporary side effects may last for several days
  • An outbreak of pimples if impurities have been locked under the skin (as the treatment increases water and cell activity  it unlocks these impactions and pushes them up and out)
  • Redness and mild swelling. This may be relieved by applying betagel, cool compressions and avoiding heat.
  • Darkening of skin prior to exfoliation as underlying pigment moves to the surface
  • “Gridding” - little bumps in the shape of the hand piece. This should settle in a few days and isn’t a reaction.

what to do

_______

Before you come in:

  • On the day of your treatment, minimise high histamine foods. If you suffer from hay fever take an anti histamine. Avoid alcohol or coffee for 12-24 hours before your treatment. Avoid taking fish oil or EFA’s for 48 hours beforehand.
  • You must wait 2 weeks post anti wrinkle injections and 4 -6 weeks post fillers before you can have Potenza
  • Avoid shaving or use of peels for at least 24 hours before
  • No waxing in the area 7 days before
  • No unprotected sun exposure 2 weeks befpre
  • No self tan for 7 days prior

Post-Treatment Guidelines:

  • Do not scrub or exfoliate the skin for at least 5 days
  • Wash the area with warm water and a mild cleanser the following day
  • If erythema after treatment persists, use an ice pack at home, but always use a protective barrier, such as a face cloth, between the skin and ice pack.
  • Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face. There are micro-pathways opened into the skin and hands will introduce bacteria.
  • If skin feels tight or dry, apply your DMK moisturising cream frequently.
  • Do not pick at treated tissue: doing so may result in hyper- or hypo-pigmentation.
  • Avoid ultraviolet rays and apply SPF 50+ UV A/B daily. IMPORTANT: wait 24 hours before applying a chemical SPF
  • Avoid alcohol consumption if possible.
  • For 24 hours, refrain from high intensity exercise or activies that increase the body temperature like saunas, hot tubs, steam showers or exercise
  • Call us or email us if any problems develop: such as rash, itching, severe redness persists or increases over the next 24 hours.
  • 2 days post treatment you’ll likely be feeling a bit dry as your dead cells have loosened. To alleviate this and minimise breakouts, wait till day 5 and exfoliate with Micro Peel or Exoderma followed by Acu Mask or Hydration Mask. You can also choose to do a Home Enzyme Mask.

Inform your skin clinician of any problems and follow any instructions you are given. As with any treatment, there is always a very small possibility that you could have a negative reaction that the clinician could not predict. If you’re worried or are experiencing itchy, red, rash skin please contact us.
